Mummy asked me the weirdest question today “要怎样去爱一个人？”
Well, my first reaction was huh what kinda question is that >< Then I thought about it and I guess I don’t really know, never really thought about it before either.
The standard answers are to love is to trust, to be understanding, to appreciate the person for who he/she is. And there was a workshop that we had on the language of love. Talking about how different ppl have different love languages, and so express their love in different ways, and likwise, feel loved in different ways.
Guess all these stuff that they say does kinda makes sense, but the harder part about it I think, is to actually put it into practice. Simply talking about it is easier, as always.
Read from some book somewhere, that love is growth. To love someone is to allow and help the person in his/her personal growth. And I quite like that idea. Reminder that the love we talk about here is not just restricted to lovers, but also love between parent and child, between siblings etc. Hmm I wonder if I have been able to love anyone properly in that way?
There are definitely people who have helped me grow stronger as a person along the 18 years of my life, but I’m not sure if I have given others the same love that I have been receiving all these years. Hmm..
But actually for now, something that intrigues me even more is what made mummy asked that question today.. Shall go and probe and find out more from her after dinner hehehe x)
